Tyrranosaurus Rex

My children asked me for my next project to make a dinosaur - I decided it had to be the Tyrranosaurus Rex.  I think it will be awesome when it is finished but it is quite a task... Of course it had to be life size #happychildren

I started out with the basic framework as I did the The Golden Eagle.  This will be plated with metal and then my intention is to cover the whole piece with washers... I think this will be very effective.

I am enjoying the process of beating the metal to shape to fit the curves of the mouth.

The inner structure will not be seen once the sculpture is complete.  It is needed to support the weight and structure of the piece.

 Starting to take shape...

The eyes and the first of 60 teeth...  From staring in May the progress so far...

Things have been very busy recently and have slightly neglected this page.... more updating photos of the Tyrannosaurus Rex to follow.  Absolutely loving making this piece...  Wherever it ends up its going to need safety barriers around it.  These teeth are sharp...

The texturing of the skin has been created by individually welding on 4000 penny washers to date.... I'm presently away to start with another 2000 and will probably need another 4000 to complete.  Its a time consuming process spot welding them on individually but will be worth it in the end I'm sure.
I think the washers are quite effective.

And here we have the finished beast... looking for its new permanent home
